Clay Shemwell

Clay Shemwell is an executive vice president of Summit Financial Group’s voluntary benefits division. His career in financial services spans nearly three decades, with the most recent seven years at SFG. He has been instrumental in building Summit’s voluntary benefits division.

Clay is a model of leadership for health and life insurance professionals serving Summit’s southern region. A day doesn’t go by that he isn’t in contact with existing clients, following up on their company and / or individual insurance needs. This diligence in maintaining close interaction with clients results in assuring that their insurance coverages are up-to-date and of the best value possible.

Clay mainly serves mid-size and large companies throughout nearly every private-sector industry, and is licensed to provide the full spectrum of voluntary benefits.   

Clay earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeast Louisiana University, and is a graduate of the Aetna PRIME school for agents and commercial school for agents. He has held licenses to provide Life, Accident and Health Insurance since 1988. Over that period, he has achieved such notable honors as member of Allstate’s Elite Producer Club, and is a multi-year member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

His positive influence has been uplifting and empowering throughout Summit’s entire organization. Clay is an avid golfer, He and his wife Amber have three children together Blair, Kalani, Malia. They enjoy living and raising their children in Monroe, Louisiana and are actively involved in their church. Clay is a man of deep faith, and is an active Vestry member at  Grace Episcopal Church. The couple is fulfilled with the blessing of living their lives together.
