Randy Gowdy is president of Summit Financial Group’s Northeast division and heads up Summit First Insurance, SFG’s Property and Casualty subsidiary. A 25-year veteran of Summit’s family of businesses, Randy is one of the company’s original founding members.
His leadership, vision, mentoring and unbridled passion for helping people throughout nearly every aspect of Summit’s employee benefits and risk management divisions, are deeply rooted within the company’s foundation.
For more than a quarter century, he has been engineering integrated total human resources and risk management plans for companies and organizations across virtually every public and private category. His vast knowledge and experience has earned him trusted-insurance advisor stature for every senior executive he and his team serves. He thrives in developing solutions that touch on all aspects of a business - from HR services and benefits, to executive benefits and workman’s compensation.
In 1987, Randy earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management. He holds certifications as a Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU®), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU®), and Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC®). He is licensed to provide Life, Accident and Health Insurance, as well as Property and Casualty Insurance.
His career in insurance services is highly decorated and recognized, as evidenced by memberships in such professional organizations as Hartford Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, National Association of Health Underwriters, Connecticut Association of Health Underwriters, Connecticut Community Bankers Association, International Foundation of Employee Benefits, Self-Insured Institute of America, and the Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut.
As a leader, Randy’s experiences are extensive. He is a U.S. Army Reserve veteran, an Ambassador for Leadership Greater Hartford, a former board member of Goodwill Industries in Springfield, Massachusetts, and former chairman of the Business Advisory Council of Goodwill Industries in Hartford, Connecticut. He also served as chairman of the Client Advocacy and Human Rights Committee for Bios, an Oklahoma-based company providing support services for those with developmental disabilities.
Randy and his wife have three children. He is an avid outdoorsman and lends his passionate leadership to coaching youth and high school team sports.
