Tele-Coaching
Wellness programs are now successfully using
multiple telephone sessions to help people stop smoking. As part
of the program they first receive a free Guidebook to read. The
Guidebook will contain information on tobacco cessation as well
as better nutrition, active living, and relaxation skills for stress
management.
After the person voluntarily
decides to participate the Tele-Coach Educator will prearrange for
six 30-minute telephone education sessions. Before wrapping up each
session the educator instructs the participant on how to use the
Guidebook to identify the situations that will likely tempt him
or her to smoke.
The participant's doctor
is also brought into the equation by recommending a full physical
to provide a concrete reference point for tracking the progress
etc. The doctor is helpful in explaining serious health issues and
in helping to hold the participant accountable.
Web site tools are also
available during the coaching process. Tele-Coaching Works!
